After Monday, July 12th, we will be unable to process changes to tour registrations - no changes will be possible on-line, by phone, by email or through the Women Ministries office.  All changes after the 12th will need to be done on site at the Registration Desk.

Explore the capital of the U.S. with new and old Triennial friends! There will be a wide variety of exciting tours offered in the Washington, DC area on Wednesday, July 21, and Thursday, July 22, before Triennial officially begins.

NOTE: Triennial XIII Tours are open only to those who have registered for the conference.

Tours will include:

TOUR 1: Duck Tour with Lunch

Wednesday or Thursday, 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM, $69
Take a comprehensive tour of the ciy’s attractions in an open-air trolley before hopping onto a restored 1942 duck, where the hilarious guide will share fascinating facts during your Potomac River cruise.

TOUR 2: All-Day Tour of D.C.

Wednesday or Thursday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, $50
Hear a guided narration of some of the city’s best and get the chance to stop and visit a few of the famous Smithsonian museums in between!

TOUR 3: Spirit Boat Cruise with Half-Day Tour

Wednesday or Thursday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, $84
Start with a tour guide’s brief introduction to D.C. before boarding the Spirit of Washington. Enjoy a panoramic narrated tour of D.C.’s harbor with a buffet lunch and live entertainment. Afterward, see some more D.C. sites before being dropped off at the hotel.

TOUR 4: D.C. at Night Tour

Wednesday night only, 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM, $38
Many say the best way to view the D.C. monuments is after dark. This three-hour tour will allow you to step off (optional) to visit the most popular memorials, and to view other sites from the comfort of the coach.

TOUR 5: Half-Day Tour

Thursday only, 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM, $31
See the major memorials and take photo stops while hearing a tour guide narrate the highlights from the comfort of your bus. (With sufficient interest, portions of this tour may be translated into Spanish by the tour guide.)

TOUR 6: Georgetown Shopping and D.C. Tour

Wednesday only, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, $40
Take a brief, whirlwind tour of the D.C. before getting dropped off in Georgetown for lunch and and a chance to visit the over 200 shops!

TOUR 7: Mount Vernon & Old Town Alexandria Tour

Wednesday only, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, $68
Visit George Washington’s birthplace and estate. You’ll be able to view Alexandria, Fort Washington, and the Pentagon from the comfort of your coach.

TOUR 8: Social Justice Tour

Wednesday (10:00 AM to 6:00 PM) and/or Thursday (8:30 AM to 5:00 PM); $75 each day or $125 for both days
For the first time ever! On Wednesday, visit museums featuring people groups who have suffered unjustly. On Thursday, visit local agencies to see what they do to work toward a more just world, domestically and internationally.

TOUR 9: Church Buildings Tour

Thursday only, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, $45
See some of D.C.’s magnificent architecture. Tour the National Cathedral and the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception before visiting local churches of various denominations that have made historic contributions to D.C.

TOUR 10: Bike Tour

Wednesday afternoon only, 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, $55
Join us on a fun three-hour bicycle adventure through the city! Feel the breeze as your tour guide takes you to see the Mall, Capitol Hill, the Supreme Court, Smithsonian museums, and much more.

TOUR 11: Segway Tour

Wednesday afternoon only, 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM, $86
Experience the city on wheels! With so many amazing sites so close by, take advantage of a thrilling new way to sightsee! A guided tour will get you acquainted with your own Segway, which you’ll take for the next two-and-a-half hours around the city with your tour guide.

TOUR 12: Kayak Tour

Wednesday afternoon only, 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, $78
On this two-and-a-half hour guided tour down Piscataway Creek and the Potomac River, enjoy magnificent views of Mount Vernon, Fort Washington, and the Washington Monument.

White House/Capitol Tours

Are you interested in touring the White House or the Capitol buildings? Due to government security, special steps must be taken by individuals who want to request a tour (instructions below). Admission is not guaranteed. Should you receive clearance, Triennial will provide transportation from the Omni hotel and back for a fee of $31 (collected on site), and during Wednesday and Thursday mornings (exact time contingent on responses of interest).



White House Tours

A limited number of free, self-guided tours of the White House are available from 7:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday July 21 or Thursday July 22.  The tours are offered on a first-come, first-served basis when official White House schedule permits. 

Note that White House tours may be cancelled or rescheduled at the last minute.  To request a tour, U.S. citizens need to contact your Member of Congress after February 21 but before June 21.  If you are a citizen of a foreign country, please contact your embassy in Washington, DC, for assistance in submitting a tour request. U.S. Capitol Tours

A limited number of free, hour-long guided tours of the U.S. Capitol are available from 8:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday July 21 or Thursday July 22. However, Triennial can only offer transportation options for the morning tours.

Tours are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can be booked beginning April 12 by contacting your Member of Congress (online at www.visitthecapitol.gov or by calling 202.226.8000).  See below for additional information for booking a tour of the U.S. Capitol.  For more information about touring the U.S. Capitol, see http://visitthecapitol.gov/Visit/U.S.%20Capitol%20Visitor%20Guide.pdf.

To Request a Tour

1. Find your Congressional Representative by visiting: https://writerep.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml and entering your zip code + four digits. If you don’t know your full 9-digit zip code, click here.

2. Contact your Representative (some Representatives’ websites will have an online form) to submit your request for a tour. Representatives will need the following information:
- Your name
- Your birth date
- Your Social Security Number
- The date of your visit (Wednesday July 21 or Thursday July 22)
- Which location(s) you’d like to visit: White House and/or the Capitol

3. If you have a confirmed reservation for a White House or U.S. Capitol tour and would like Triennial to arrange transportation for you, contact Tour Chair, Vicki Tsui (blesshsu@yahoo.com) with the tour location (White House or Capitol) and the date/time of your tour (Triennial is only providing transportation for Wednesday and Thursday mornings, based on the responses of those interested).  Triennial-arranged transportation is $31 (to be collected on site).
